The Origins of Astrology in Ancient Babylon

Astrology's roots stretch back over 4,000 years to ancient Babylon, where priests meticulously tracked the movements of celestial bodies.

Babylonian astrologers believed that the gods communicated through planetary movements. Eclipses, conjunctions, and the heliacal rising of stars were all interpreted as divine messages.

The Enuma Anu Enlil, a collection of over 7,000 celestial omens, served as the earliest astrological reference text. This practice eventually spread to Egypt, Greece, and the Roman Empire, forming the foundation of Western astrology. Understanding these origins helps modern astrologers appreciate the depth and historical weight of the craft they practice today.
